Epiphany Resource for Parents

The season from Thanksgiving to Christmas is my favorite time of year! I love the changing weather, the music, the food, the gatherings, the special concerts, church events, and parties! However, our family tries to focus on the real meaning by utilizing an advent wreath, special readings, and participating in special events. But what happens when it’s all over?

Lindsey Bridges has put together a wonderful resource to help parents recover from the holidays! Anyone need something like that? We sure do!

On her blog Lindsey lays out a four-part summary, The Essence of Epiphany:

  1. Epiphany reminds us wait and look ahead.

  2. Christ came for all.

  3. Bring your best for Christ.

  4. Christ is King.

Those are important and essential reminders for me as I begin 2015. I assume that’s true for most of us.

To help parents bring this to life for children Lindsey put together a six part devotional for families, Experiencing Epiphany: 6 Days of an Intentional Epiphany with Your Kids.

Why Experiencing Epiphany is a great resource

  1. It’s short! Who has time to read thick books, especially to kids! It’s 16 pages. Each day has a two pages of content. Easy to consume and follow for a busy family.
  2. It’s solidly biblical! Each day includes a reading from one of the Gospels. The entire devotion is centered on the passage and it’s main idea.
  3. It’s practical! Each day includes hands on activities. The activities put faith into action. They’re great for kids, but they’re also great for adults who need help applying the truths of the Bible.

  2. I would really like a resource like this – something with hands-on activities that could help to establish post-holiday traditions with my family! Thanks for the introduction, Ed!

  3. ed, as a believer, i would love to learn more about celebrating epiphany with practical steps. as a father, i would love to integrate more of the christian calendar into the life of my daughter beyond lent and especially past advent so that she can see more of Jesus throughout the year. Finally, as a i pastor i would love to experience a resource that i can share with my church family.
